While demand for American gold eagles is slightly off from 2013’s torrid pace, these coins are still in relatively high demand and are the most recognizable and liquid gold coins in the market today. Most of the American gold eagle coins that we have in stock are of the 1 oz variety, but we also have a few fractional gold coins in stock, such as ¼ oz gold eagles, for those individuals that prefer smaller denomination gold coins. Additionally, we have a few proof American gold eagles in stock, which are typically purchased more for their collectible value than gold bullion value.
Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins
One of the more popular gold coins that we’ve been having issues keeping in stock is the Canadian gold maple leaf. This is the most popular 24k gold coin in the U.S., even though the American gold buffalo is a 24k gold coin produced in the U.S. One of the reasons for the popularity of the Canadian gold maple leaf is that it was the first 24k government minted gold bullion coin produced. Furthermore, since these coins have been produced since 1979, tens of millions of these coins are available and have changed hands, which has created a broad and liquid market for these coins. As of this writing, we have six 1 oz Canadian gold maple leaf coins in stock, but as always, inventory levels tend to change quickly.
American Silver Eagles
As is the case with American gold eagles, demand for American silver eagles this year is slightly off the record setting year established in 2013, but even so, 28 million ounces of silver eagles have been sold by the U.S. Mint in 2014. At the current pace, annual sales are still projected to be near 40 million ounces, which would rank among the three best ever years for the sale of these coins. These coins are attractive for a couple of different reasons. Not only are they the official silver bullion coin of the United States, which means that the weight and purity is guaranteed by the U.S. government, but premiums for these coins have also dropped. With the price of silver currently under $20, you may not have a better opportunity than now to pick up these coins at bargain prices.
90% Silver Coins
Demand for certain coins tends to ebb and flow over time. At this particular moment, 90% silver coins may be the most sought after silver coins in the metro Atlanta area. In fact, we’ve been having a difficult time keeping these coins in stock and typically sell out shortly after we announce that we have new inventory in stock. All of the denominations, including dimes, quarters and half dollars are being sought after by silver investors and collectors, but at the moment, quarters and half dollars tend to be in the highest demand.
